Brockham Wednesday Club (for Seniors)

This Village Club meets in the Village Hall at 2.00pm on the first Wednesday of each month from February to November.  The Club has been running for over 60 years and has a membership of 60+.

Annual Membership subscription is £10.

The AGM is usually held at the February meeting when members can discuss future events and elect a committee.

Each month there is a Speaker or Entertainment.

A Strawberry Tea is arranged in July, a Ploughman’s Lunch in September and Fish and Chips in October.  Also a Coffee Morning is held in August and the Club goes out to a Christmas lunch in December.

There are 6 coach outings a year which include a trip to the coast and visiting places of interest.  The outings cost £12 for members and £15 for visitors.

There is a nominal fee at each meeting of £1 when a Cup of Tea and Biscuits are provided giving the chance for members to socialise with friends and enter the monthly raffle.

Visitors are welcome.

The Club is fortunate to have the Village Hall as a venue and the services of the local Coach Company, Hardings, for the outings.

(It is due to the foresight of Mrs Smith (late of Brookside Cottages) that the Club was formed in the 1950’s.  Mr Oliver West subsequently became Chairman followed by Mr and Mrs Dixon and then Alex Street.

Bobbie Stevens and Janet Powell took over as Joint Chairman in 2007.  The Club’s Chairman is now Janet Powell with Deputy Chairman Freda Lewis thus continuing this valuable organisation for the senior generation of Brockham.)
