Brockham Green Recreation Ground & Pavilion
Brockham Green Recreation
Ground & Pavilion - Improving it for the Community
To many in Brockham and the surrounding area the Brockham
Recreation Ground and its associated Pavilion in Middle Street is
used for nothing more than Football and Cricket. The reality
however is very different.
The ground is an established focal point for the
community. The outdoor facilities are used extensively by
young and old alike. From youngsters aged 6 years and above
learning basic ball skills and the character building benefits of
Kwik Cricket, through Brockham Badgers Football and Brockham Ladies
Stoolball Club, to simply being a pleasant place for Residents to
stroll and busy Mum's to bring their young ones to let off steam in
the childrens' play area.
The pavilion, built some 18 years ago, is available for hire and
is home to many regular and diverse meetings including the W.I.,
Brockham Horticultural Society, Parish Council, Brockham Flower
Club, Brockham Slimming Club to name but a few. It is also used for
kid's birthday's, christening parties and even retirement
functions.
The pavilion and grounds are managed by The Trustees of the
Brockham Green Recreation Ground Trust, who are tasked with the
duty and responsibility to manage the facilities on behalf of the
local community. The Trust now consider the facilities,
particularly the Pavilion are in need of a facelift to combat the
effects of age and frequent use and to maximize their appeal in
order to meet the needs of its users and the wider public at
large.
To this end our initial priorities will see the Pavilion undergo
a major refurbishment program. In phase 1 the main function room
will be fitted with a new and improved multi function lighting
system, the toilets will be refurbished and the interior of the
Pavilion will be completely redecorated. In phase 2 we intend
to have the car park resurfaced as soon as funds allow.
The work we intend to sanction is not going to be cheap so we
will be embarking on a number of fund raising initiatives over the
coming months to help raise the necessary funds. We already have
confirmation of support from one local community organization and
are actively seeking funding from other sources. We intend to
launch a 100 Club with a regular monthly cash prize draw, details
of which will follow in the May Issue of the Brockham Parish News.
A Village Sports Day, designed to appeal to all age groups,
is also planned and more details will be announced in the June
Issue.

the Trust's objectives please contact Simon Haines, Chairman,
