Lottery Success

 

Brockham Youth Council has been awarded a grant from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards For All programme for their skate project. Along with donations from the Poland Trust and the Bonfire Committee and the young people's own fundraising efforts, the Youth Council now has all the funds it needs to run the skate project for a year which is fantastic news.

 

So, what is the Skate Project?

There are lots of young people in Brockham who want to skateboard or BMX but nowhere suitable to do this. The project allows us to hire in a mobile skatepark monthly from April to September which will be set up in the playground of North Downs School who have kindly allowed us to use their grounds. From October to March, when the weather is bad we will be running monthly trips to Skaterham in Caterham which is an indoor skate facility. This means any young people who want to skate, board, BMX or scoot can use these facilities for free.

 

The mobile skatepark will be at the school on the following dates between 12.00 - 6.00pm.

 

Saturday, 2^nd April

Saturday 21^st May

Saturday 11 June

Sunday 3^rd July

Saturday 13 August

Saturday 17 September

 

Anyone aged 11-18yrs who wants to use it can come down. You will need to bring your bike skateboard or scooter and a bike helmet. We would also recommend knee and elbow pads. The company running the mobile skatepark will also do demonstrations and coaching if you are a complete beginner. You will also need to bring along forms signed by parents and you can get these by emailing clare.ritchie2@btinternet.com

 

 

Next Project

The Youth Council are working with North Downs School and the Village Hall Committee to look at other social things we can provide for young people in the village. If you have ideas or something you want to do, get in contact.

 

 

The Youth Council is open to anyone between 11-18yrs
