Len Jordan
It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Len
Jordan, a true Brockham villager. Len was born in Oak
Cottages, Brockham Green in February 1924 and spent his life living
in the village, most latterly in Poland House with his wife,
Freda.
Last year, we were delighted when Len wrote down his memories
and worked with us to post them on this website, enabling us all to
share them. Len wrote his recollections - as he said -
'written as it came into my head' but in fact, produced a
fascinating, humorous and engaging account of what it was like to
grow up in Brockham during the 1930's. His style evoked the true
community spirit that prevailed of the time, introducing us to the
people, their work, the houses one by one and the activities,
around and on The Green.
Len will be very much missed but we are grateful to have this
lasting account of his - please take the time to read Len's
personal recollections, we are delighted they are here for everyone
to share.
