MVDC Waste Collections
The following has been issued by Mole Valley District
Council
Despite the ongoing difficult weather conditions, our refuse
collectors will be attempting to collect refuse this week. Please
put out your bins on your regular collection day and the collection
crews will make every effort to empty them.
There may be delays to your collection due to the continuing icy
conditions on roads and footpaths, however we will return and empty
your refuse bins as soon as we are able to do so safely. Garden and
food waste collections have been cancelled today, for the next
collection of garden waste in two weeks time, residents can put out
extra garden waste in sacks next to their bin.
We would like to assure you that we will be making every effort
to empty the refuse bins, which may involve us working on Saturdays
so please leave your refuse out until it is collected. We would
like to remind residents who missed their recycling and garden
waste collections on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week
that these collections were cancelled and their next collection
will be on their usual day in week commencing 18 January.
Residents with excess recycling and garden waste can put these
materials in open black bags and place them alongside the
appropriate bin on their next collection.
Given that it is unlikely that the ice and snow will clear
quickly, we would like to urge as many of our residents and
businesses who are able, to consider adopting a 'shovel, sweep and
salt' approach to clearing their footpaths. This would make a great
difference in helping to get our communities moving again and would
be an invaluable support to the work already being carried out by
both the District and County Councils who have been out trying to
clear the major roads and paths. Naturally we would encourage care
to be taken and that clearing pavements does not result in an
obstruction or causes further injury but the Council would greatly
appreciate such assistance from our more able residents.
