First of all I should like to thank the Good Companions for
their gift during my recovery from my hip replacement operation.
It's amazing how the communications in the village work but it
shows what a wonderful job you do. Thank you once again.
Many of you will have noticed that the cross has been replaced on
the top of the village pump. We thank Mark Harding for his efforts
on this. Unfortunately, it has shown up the fact that work needs to
be done on the rest of it !!!

By the time that this report is read, we will have had a visit from
the judges for the Calor Surrey Village Of The Year competition and
we hope that this year, we will be among the prize winners.
On July 9th there is a meeting of the Mole Valley Play Partnership.
This comprises residents and organisations working with MVDC for
the benefit of children and children's play. This meeting will be
held in the council chamber at Pippbrook. If anyone is interested
and not already involved please contact Celia Plumb for full
details.
Progress is being made with regard to the improved play facilities
around the village and we hope that something material will be seen
shortly.
There have been some delays regarding the work to be done on the
War Memorial but again we should see something positive soon.
We still have our ongoing list of jobs for Surrey County Council
but it appears that fewer and fewer of these are being done due to
finances. We have the same problem with EDF and lights. Their
excuse is that they are commencing a 10 year programme of replacing
lighting columns in Surrey. So, come 2019 we may have all new
lights that are working in Brockham ! (Our request for the light in
Tweed Lane to be repaired was logged in June 2008.....).
Finally, as you know, we are looking to place two new dog
bins in the village. MVDC are unable to fund them be we wondered if
anybody would be prepared to sponsor one or both. The approximate
costs are £280 per bin plus about £100 per year to have them
emptied.
If there is somebody interested in helping please contact Celia
Plumb.
