Strood Green Shop Power Cut
The community shop at Strood Green had a challenging day today
(7th March), when contractors preparing the footings for
the shop extension cut through an underground cable. The shop
opened as usual at 7:00 a.m. but by 9:00 a.m. they were plunged
into darkness.
Manager Jane Holmes said "it was business as usual until 3:00
p.m. but in the end the shop closed early as it was too dark and
cold to carry on."
UK Power Networks eventually restored power at 9:30 p.m.
thankfully all frozen and chilled stock was saved thanks to the
efforts of the staff.
Once completed the extension to the shop will provide a bigger
café and improve the kitchen and office space.
