VICTORIAN FAIR WEEKEND

VICTORIAN FAIR WEEKEND - 16/17/18TH JULY 2010

WOW - WHAT A WEEKEND.

By now many of you will have returned from your holidays, but maybe you could cast your minds back to 16/17/18th July on the Green.

We are pleased to report that all 36 charity stalls did well and some exceptionally well during the afternoon.  Hopefully many local Societies will benefit.

We hope you and your friends all enjoyed the Picnic, Live Bands, Brian's Musical Entertainment and of course Rueben Bond's Victorian Fun Fair. This year's winner of 'Posh Picnic', setting a high standard once again, was Ian and Chris Clinging and Family.

The Collection on Saturday night raised £436.54, a little disappointing compared to other years, and we guess you all missed the fireworks - fingers crossed for next year.  This, together with Rueben Bond's Fun Fair contribution will enable us to run the event again next year.

"Georgie's Pooches on Parade" was very slick and will certainly be repeated again next year.  Donations have been made to Dogs R Us, The Dogs Trust and Cat Action Trust 1977.  The Duck Race proved very successful and will hopefully be repeated again next year - dogs and ducks blended well together!!

The Committee would like to thank everyone: -  Brockham Bonfire, Brockham Parish Council, The Royal Oak, our Sponsors (all from within the village), and a special thank you to the teenagers of the village who once again helped us with the setting up and running of the event.  All the Stall Holders and Residents of the Village Green, exhibitors and sponsors of the Dog Show and of course You and Your Families and Friends - who proved that Brockham Green was the place to be!  We, as a committee, really enjoy hosting this event and we know you all enjoy coming to it.

In tune with real Village Life the preparations for the Fete were interrupted when a local resident discovered a cow in their garden.  They went to the 'Butcher's Shop' and were told to contact members of the Bonfire Committee who would be on the Green working.  Thus - unable to persuade the cow to swim back to the field the decision was made to walk it the long way round - down Kiln Lane, over the Borough Bridge and back to his friends.

Our thanks to all those involved - we just made it happen, as Brockham always seems to be able to do.

This is how it should always be - and we are proud to say BROCKHAM DID IT YET AGAIN.

See you next year - dates to be confirmed.
