30 December 2015
Thanks to supporters’ generosity, we took more than 30 Joy-in-a-Box parcels to the Romanian Aid Foundation’s Horley base in plenty of time to be loaded on the pre-Christmas delivery lorry. Thanks to our knitters, several car loads of warm and colourful items of clothing and blankets were also delivered.
While we were there we were given copies of the DVD made by one of the volunteers who travelled with the lorry making the September delivery with goods from RoAF’s bases in Wales and Horley. The DVD gives a glimpse of the work RoAF does in conjunction with Asociatia Neema, the local charity; a few pictures of the boys’ home currently being built by another charity which RoAF also supports, and some of the families who receive aid. Anyone who would like to borrow the DVD should ring Ann Clinch on 842866.
We must also thank the South London Concert Band for their uplifting pre-Christmas performance in Betchworth Village War Memorial Hall in early December. More than 30 musicians played a grand mix of music that brightened a dull afternoon with splendid entertainment. And we are delighted to say that they will be returning to Betchworth on St George’s Day, Saturday 23rd April, to give another afternoon concert for BOAC.
But our next fund-raising event is a Coffee Morning with craft stalls to be held in the Church Community Hall on Saturday 6th February from 10am to 12 noon. Those who would like to take stalls and sell their handiwork at the event should contact Janet Powell on 842607 for details and bookings.
