10 November 2017
Over the last few months the Management Committee of the Club has been reviewing its overall business. We have also been working hard to increase the number of volunteers required to run the Club which has proved challenging. The club is also legally required to establish itself as an incorporated body (e.g. a company or a society) separate from the Village Hall, in order to hold an alcohol licence and to operate from the Village Hall premises under an occupational licence. We have been in dialogue with the trustees with regard to creating a more inclusive social facility, in response to the recent community survey (e.g.: bar, cafe, meeting rooms etc.). Unfortunately, no individuals have come forward to help the Club form as a community-run incorporated body to enable us to do this at this point in time.
With all this in mind, we have no choice but to close the social Club for now. The social Club will remain open until 10.30pm Sunday 26th November.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years.

Footnote from the Trustees of the Village Hall
The Village Hall remains open for business and the trustees are keen to develop the community use of every part of the building to make it more sustainable and inclusive. Taking on board the findings of the recent community consultation on the use of the premises, plans are being explored to re-design the front part of the building and minimise the period of its closure. The timing of this development will be dependent upon the completion of a programme of safety checks, drawing up a dilapidations schedule and raising necessary funds.
The occupancy of any potential bar/café space will be put out to tender to both community organisations and private organisations. Use of meeting space is being explored with outside agencies and the Citizens Advice Bureau has already expressed a strong interest in running a service there.
The results of the community survey and the process for remodelling the building to maximise its use, will be presented at a Public Meeting in early December.
