Notes for February 2010 Meeting

At our February meeting, we welcomed Councillor David Howell from the MVDC Standards Committee as an observer.

Some of the items that were discussed were:
The "river" flowing down from the Green to the Borough Bridge. Surrey County Council have now cured this so that this part of the road should not be a problem if we have any more freezing weather.

We have confirmed acceptance of the quote for the drainage work that is to be carried out on the Elisabeth Bailey field and are now awaiting a start date from the contractors.

The work on the renovation of the war memorial will be completed once a chain link fence has been put around it. The contractor is waiting for better weather to do this  and we have also asked him to do some work on the Millenium Stone.

We have received a letter from East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership raising awareness of their Buses 4U Demand Responsive service.
The bus operates between 9.00am and 14.30pm between Newdigate, Leigh and Dorking on tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays on service 522 but can operate demand responsively between the three timetabled journeys that they operate. They may be able to operate a demand responsive service for two evenings a week but they need to know whether it would be used and where people would like to go. We will be arranging to meet a representative at one of our future meetings to discuss this further but if anyone has any thoughts on this then please contact Celia plumb on 843471.

At the time of writing this report, I understand that almost all the money for the purchase of the field in Middle Street has been raised.
